How to import from Excel or Text files
You can import data from other files including Excel spreadsheets
and ascii text files. To do this you must first figure out which
file in Computer Admin to import into. If you have a spreadsheet
containing computer information such as name, system etc. then you
will want to import into the Comp.CAP file. If you have data listing
software information then you will import into Sof.CAP file. Peripheral
information must be imported into the Periph.CAP file.
Once
you decide which file best suits your needs you are ready to import.
Open Computer Admin and from the Window Menu select which file you
wish to import into.

Once
that file is brought to the front you will see a splash screen.

Go
to the File Menu and choose Import Records...

In
the next window you will find the file that you are trying to import
records from. Click "Open"
Next
you will see a field matching dialog box. The fields from your file
are displayed on the left and the fields from Computer Admin are
displayed on the Right.

Here
you will match up field names between the Computer Admin file and
your own data. You can move the Computer Admin field names around
until they best match your fields on the left.
View a list of field
names for all files.

Once
the field matching is complete click the import button.

In
the next dialog make sure the "Auto enter options..."
is checked and click import.

Once
the import is complete you can click the "ok" button on
the splash screen to return to Computer Admin and verify that your
data was imported properly.
